When is the Best Time To Pump Petrol?

Every car owner should know these cost-saving tips!

Petrol prices just increased at the beginning of this month. You’re thinking real hard on how to save on fuel, but you need to drive to work every weekday; and you have to run errands on weekends. Then there’s the occasional road trip you take with your family during the school holidays.

How do you go about saving on fuel? Believe it or not, when you refuel actually makes a difference.

Here are some tips we’ve found that might help:

#1 Refuel early in the morning, or later in the evening.

Why? The temperature is cooler during these times, which means that petrol is denser before sunrise and after sunset. When temperature is higher during daytime, petrol is less dense, meaning you’ll be refueling more petrol than during a cooler time in the day.

#2 Before major public holidays with long weekends.

Many people will take the chance to take a trip out of town, be it back to their hometowns or somewhere else for a short getaway. The petrol stations will be packed with cars, which means you’ll need to wait for your turn while your engine is running. This will waste more petrol.
